How Much Water do I have to drink?

Hey Shank,
Last year I won one match (by forfeit) and lost all the rest.  I was pinned fifteen times.  This year I want to change!  I am sick of being embarressed in front of my family and friends.  After being repeatedly called a fish by everybody in school it got me thinking about how much water I need to drink?  One of the Seniors who is also a bodybuilder told me two gallons a day of pure, filtered water will do the trick.  What do you think?
Signed,
Prune Face
(Killer, Psycho, Animal...These are all good nicknames for a wrestler to have.  Filet-O-Fish not so much.)

Dear Prune Face,
Unless you weigh over 500lbs, that Senior, you know the one that told you to drink two gallons of water a day, has no idea what he is talking about.  Two gallons of water a day is excessive.  When people call you "Fish" it is just a nickname, it doesn't mean you actually breathe through gills.

(These are gills.  No matter how bad of a wrestler you might be you still don't have them.)

Maybe if your body was covered in oily scales then I could understand consuming that much water but in this case the only thing you will wind up doing is getting sick and going to the bathroom all day.  It will be hard to win more matches if you spend your free time nauseous and on the toilet.

(Up on mat #2...guy who isn't actually up on mat #2 because he can't get off the toilet.  In all seriousness this ad is pretty much right on the money.  If you booze you don't necessarily lose but you certainly do some stupid stuff.  Trust me, I know.)

Now just from your name alone I think you need to consume more water.  That and you need to sit down with your parents and ask them why with the last name of "Face" they would have ever thought to name you Prune. But that is beyond the scope of our discussion here today so let's just get to my answer.
I know you will find this amazing after that long winded preamble but your question is actually a simple one to answer:
Consume one half of your bodyweight in ounces of water a day.  (This does not count the amount of water you drink while training.  That is extra.)
If you weigh 100lbs you need to drink 50 ounces of water a day, every single day.
If you weigh 150lbs you need to drink 75 ounces of water a day, every single day.
If you weigh 200lbs you need to drink 100 ounces of water a day, every single day.
I could sit here all day and do enough math to make Good Will Hunting want to throw up but I think you get the point.

(This is water.  If you drink enough it will help you lose fat, build muscle and perform better on the mat. Enough said.)
